Approximation of Disabled Populations to Art

Over the years, Haifa Arts Foundation has assisted associations, centers and clubs whose purpose was to assist populations with disabilities, children and adults alike. The Foundation aided the various populations according to their specific needs and character: assisting in the purchase of equipment and facilities that allowed the disabled population to express itself artistically; helping to budget art instructors; arranging transportation to activities; assisting in the purchase of representative costumes for artistic performances; and exposing the community to the disabled population's artistic activity, despite the disability.

Among the beneficiaries of the Foundation's assistance were: Yavnieli School and El Hiwar School, the Social Club for the Blind in Beit Heine, Ahva Association of the Disabled in Haifa and the North, Ilan - The Israeli Foundation for Handicapped Children and Sivan Club in Western Kiryat Haim, which conducts voluntary activities for physically disabled populations, and more.

Haifa Arts Foundation's support assists the rehabilitation processes of this population and thus promotes its members' integration into society and the community. Artistic activities such as dance, photography, painting, sculpture, printing and calligraphy, and various handicrafts—promoted by the Foundation—instill an optimistic spirit, activate creativity and increase the self-esteem of this population in its own eyes and in the eyes of the environment.
